Starts this weekend with 'Jindabyne' (which I'm not going to see) and 'The Good German' (which I am). This might be related to the 'critic's challenge' thread, but as another mini-critic's challenge, I'll try and post the reviews of what I go and see after each of the viewings!

here's a list of what i'll be going to see .

[edit]

Oops, fixed now, sorry!

Paddy, I can't get your link to work. Enjoy yourself, anyway. I look forward to your comments.

Sorry lemmy, fixed now! (and yes i do work in I.T. )

Well, the festival hasn't even started yet, but there's some news.. went in to pick up the tickets this evening, and 'Sunshine' has been withdrawn from the festival! Crap, said I, but it's been replaced with 'The Fountain'! This is a bit of a coup for the oranisers, because the fountain isn't released in Ireland yet, despite the fact that it's out in the U.K.

Plus we get a refund for the price of the tickets, PLUS we get free tickets to go to a viewing of Sunshine when it becomes available!

So, long story short, me happy!

Well, it was a struggle to make the 10.30 a.m. showing, considering the quantities of pints ingested last night, but 'The Good German' was worth it.

Has this one been out in the U.S. for a while?

Anyway, here's PCMR's first report from the DIFF! 'The Good German'.

Latest update from the Dublin Film Festival, this time it's the slightly disappointing 'Fast Food Nation'

Jeremy Thomas, the bigshot producer was there last night too.. oooh!

Latest offering from the Dublin Film Festival was an unusual one, but a very memorable experience: Metropolis, in the National Gallery of Ireland, with an excellent original live soundtrack provided by a mini-orchestra by the name of 3epkano.

Well, the Dublin Film Festival ends today, and I ended up missing 'Color Me Kubrick' this morning, due to excessive celebrations last night... it was worth it though!

So, 'Sunshine' was pulled, and replaced by 'The Fountain', which I had already seen, but I did get to see 'Curse of the Golden Flower' yesterday before the match, and it was great.

Curse of the Golden Flower reviewed here.

Hm... sounds like they took a hunk of this story from "Lion in Winter", except for the fighting, poision and love interest between the empress and #1 son.
