Bigger Boat, that's a magnificent review. Vote & kudos to you.
Also, Randall--love "Hashomon," but I've already voted on it. |

I have two reviews that have gone almost unnoticed despite being in my FYC list. It's possible that the reference in my review of Revenge of the Sith, "Padme victim of irony," just isn't as obvious as I thought, or more likely it just got lost in the 500 other reviews of that film.
Maybe the former, because I have to admit I just don't get it. Sorry.
Well it's a spoiler so I'll PM you with the explanation. |

Yep, I didn't get it before. Presumably D.D.S. = doctor of dental surgery? Dentists don't have doctorates in this country. (Nor do doctors for that matter.) |

Voted, but normalvision's review also deserves way more votes. |

I thought this would do a lot better in the F.Y.C.T.H.: one of the actors is called London Bridges; loads of people fall down.
I thought this was my best one round, but it fared worst in what turned out to be a very good round for me. Spoiler: Gaps in the dinosaur D.N.A. are filled in with frog genes; this causes the dinosaurs to be able to change sex. Ill-fitting jeans are uncomfortable for one's genitals. |

It's got to be most people have no idea who London Bridges is (including Hollywood casting directors?) and his part in "Bobby" is tiny - if he had a more central role, or you saw him fall down it would be a better review. As it stands it's quirky, but really has no especial relevance as a review of "Bobby". |

These come to mind... a few that did very well, but I expected to make it onto my first rank...
Master and Commander
Richard III (being the McKellen Nazi version)
Battle Royale
And a couple that are in my bottom ranks but I think deserved a bit more love given a little extra thought....
The Godfather, part 2 - is it worth pointing out there's more to this than first appearance or is that just too patronising?
Dogville

I don't think this thread is about "Why didn't my review get more votes?"
Yes, he has a tiny part, but his name is so good that that is sufficient. If he had a bigger part then it would be an awesome review, and I haven't claimed that. It's not "London Bridges falling down", so it is not relevant that he does not fall down himself. It is certainly relevant to Bobby, as it is the only film featuring him and lots of people falling down. |

This is very good and does deserve more votes.

You explained this at the time, so I expect that people who liked it (including me) voted for it then.

Oh yes! Can't quite keep my opinions to myself. Carry on.

I'm not that familiar with the work of Mr Bridges, but I take your word for it. |

Errrmmm, none of your supplied links work. I'm guessing you've had a review or two approved (or declined) since you created the links, so everything is out of kilter.
Otherwise, I've VVV the other links as appropriate. |

I love reviews that misplace just one letter to get the point across. Like this one.
Nice one, but I am one of the eleven.
So am I. A definite case of a review that would have a lot more votes if both movies were better known.
I'm sure you're right about that, but I just don't explain 'em because (a) The reviews have to live on the site without explanation, so tough beans for me, and (b) I feel a little embarrassed essentially nudging you in the ribcage going, "Get it? Get it?" Besides, I'd really hate to patronize fwiffers who know perfectly well what RASHOMON is.
This is only me; I have no beef with anybody else who feels like explaining, and I have probably cost myself some votes by not doing so. So let it be written, so let it be done. [Er, this is Yul Brynner's catchphrase from THE TEN COMMANDMENTS...] |

I have a few I wished had done better.
SPOILERS:
The Matrix Reloaded: Neo visits Circuit City When Neo goes to visit the Creator, he is in a room full of television monitors. Circuit City is a large volume electronics chain with walls of televisions.
Arsenic and Old Lace: Who Slew? Aunties Do!! I love this film. I think it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen and a great black comedy from the 40s. Cary Grant's attempts to hide his aunts' murders are priceless. Tjhe review is a twist of a 1971 film featuring Shelley Winters called Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?, an odd horror film where Winters, as Auntie Roo, keeps a creepy secret upstairs in her mansion. Then again, it's not listed on fwfr, so I just added it.
Hollywoodland: Bird?! Plane!? No - AFFLECK!! When George Reeves played Superman, the lead in narration each week began "Look! Up in the sky!! It's a bird!?! It's a plane?!? No, it's Superman!!"
Shakespeare in Love: Victor/Victoria upon Avon I just liked this one. Shakespeare being from Stratford upon Avon, Gwyneth is a woman pretending to be a man pretending to be Juliet in the final scenes of the film.
Deliverance: Beatty's porcine speech lesson Just a reference to the infamous scene wherein Southern redneck teaches Ned Beatty to squeal like a pig (a porcine).
Thanks for any reconsideration!!
Thanks for that, I used the wrong "isolation approach." This should stay constant. |

Thanks lemmy, george, Randall and whoever else voted for my fave - the three extra votes has elevated it into top 500 status (although you may have refresh a couple of times to spot it...). |
