Sometimes when I try to change my picture and it doesn't work 1st time, I put the details in again and hit CTRL and F5 at the same time. It usually works, but not always first time. Don't ask me why it works, cos I don't know, I'm not that clever.  |

Question: do you have another picture you'd like to substitute? If you just want to have a blank space instead of a picture then you need to upload what duh is calling "a single pixel transparent gif." [more later]
OK - so
1. go to My fwfr
2. look at the left-hand column of choices and find My details and go there
3. You'll see two headings:
User Details and Personal Details
In the latter category, just underneath where it says Country, there's an inputbox next to a title called Image (Leave blank if you
don't want to change) and next to the input box is a button called 'Browse'
4. If you click the Browse button up will pop a widdle window with all the directories and files on your computer. If you have a picture you'd like to substitute, then find it and click on it. The name of the image file should by magic appear in the dialogue box.
5. Click 'Open' and the file name and the path to its directory will now be in the box next to the Browse button.
6. At the bottom of the page Click 'Okay' and your new picture should now have replaced the existing one throughout the entire site.
IF YOU DON'T WANT A PICTURE
Then you have to make a single pixel gif in your resident Paint Programme. It's easy. Just open a New image file and force it to be 1 pixel x 1 pixel. Don't put anything in it and save it as a transparent image. Don't forget where you save it to. Then follow the directions above and you'll have a blank 'avatar.'
Hope this helps, but personally I think your existing pikky looks great -- and so do you!

That'll be caching in action. You're actually telling your browser the images on this page may have changed so please get the latest copies of them all from the server. Without doing this, the browser tries to be clever and skips downloading things like images (generally the most sizeable elements of a website) and refers to older (cached) copies it's downloaded before. The idea being page loading times are quicker and your Internet connection bill is lower.
In a nutshell: F5 (or the Refresh/ Reload page button) simply reloads the source code of the page, CTRL F5 reloads *everything* on the page. |

Well whatever Tori has done it hasn't changed her picture. I just ctrl F5'd it and it's the same pic that's been there for a few weeks.
Tori, perhaps you have tried to upload a new picture that's not a legal size/format or something? |

| I'm not sure. I've done what I can think of to delete it... I've renamed to gifs or jpgs and I have resized. Oh well this is okay I guess. It's just so blurry! Thanks for your help everyone. |

| It's probably the nicest avatar on the site, but if you must change it, make sure you aren't using Firefox as a browser. I can only change mine from Microsoft Internet Explorer. |
