Star Wars was also criticized as being "silly," Lucas noted. "But it wasn't." He also disclosed that he is working on at least two other Star Wars movies for television. "But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters. They will be other people of that milieu."
Oh, joy! I hope we get a "sex and the city" style movie starring the extended Binks family!

Don't look to hard below 'cause here there be Spiders Too many plotlines, too many bad lads (who all end up being good????wtf) too much whimpering love, revenge and guilt scenes. Loved Sandman and Venom.
Tori I can see kids being scared stiff, his toothy head was great!!
Just not enough action. |

From everything I've read here (and elsewhere) it sounds as if Spiderman 3 is shite of the first order, and I should spend my money on something with more depth and intelligence, like Pirates 3, perhaps... The thought of Spidermans 4, 5, and 6 is depressing. Did they not learn anything from the fourth installments of Superman and Lethal Weapon? And this summer we can look forward to Die Hard 4 as well. Still, as bad as Spidey 3 might be, it can't actually take anything away from the first one, which I recall as an enjoyable film that didn't overstay its welcome.

First reports are Shrek 3 is a pile as well - could it be the year that Hollywood finally discovers that piling money into ill conceived sequels is a bad idea after all....
... nah! course not! Look how much money Spiderman 3 has made anyway! |

I liked Lethal Weapon 4, LW3 was shite for me...LW2 was the best. |

Exactly. People pay to see them anyway. |

So am I going to stand alone on this one? Well, whatever. I've done it before and I can do it again. Spider-Man 3 is the best of the Spider-Man movies, and is way better than the thin soup of Spider-Man 1.
I don't understand the not-enough action complaints at all. |

That may be so- I never bothered to buy the first one on DVD, but the second was an absolute stonker, and number three fell considerably short of that (in my opinion at least). I just got bored halfway through- simple as that. This shouldn't happen in *any* film, let alone a so-called summer blockbuster. If you can't keep the audience interested in a popcorn flick then something has gone very, very wrong. Perhaps the second film spoilt us- there was little way Raimi could hope to top it in my mind.

Me neither. Certainly, the action was there in spades, it's just that none of it engaged (for whatever reason) anything like either the train scene or wall fight in the second film. |

it ended with a bunch of people nodding thier heads in disgust in the audience.
By the way. I can't wait for Indiana Jones 4..hehe.
I think after 2...they should stop trying to make dozens of sequels. (unless your actually making fun of sequels ie. - Scary Movie, Naked Gun, etc.) But I would pay good money to see Back to the Future 4. |

I'm with you MBI!
As a build up to watching 3, I watched 1 and 2 on consecutive nights last week. In my mind prior to reviewing them, I thought 2 was the best, like benj said, more action, great villain, etc. But upon review 1 was just as good as 2 (G Goblin was just a tad less interesting) - and I really think 3 does a great job of maintaining the quality and feel of the first two films.
BTW - Harry Knowles is a crap movie reviewer, but I thought this review made some interesting points.

I totally agree with some of his points:-
" and if this series continues and Raimi continues, which I hope he will Id love for him to kill off Mary Jane and let Parker make wild sex with Gwen Stacy before killing her tragically and he ends up with the Russian girl that makes the cookies and cake."
