Hi Acc fans

I'm trying to put together a commemoration of those stars with huge and instant screen potential whose untimely deaths cut short a legendary career and turned them merely into legends. I'm talking about those who only starred in a handful of films before they died.

So far I've got
Robert Williams [a comic genius of the 1930s]
James Dean [of course]
River Phoenix [of double course]

Can anyone think of more ... I'm hoping to include some women, too.

Remember, these are people whose reputations are still valued and whose careers were stopped by death and not because they gave up [e.g. Carole Lynley].

PS If you've never seen the brilliance of Robert Williams try to get hold of Capra's Platinum Blond also starring Jean Harlow. He's like a combo of Gable and Cary Grant with a boy-next-door face.

BIG THANKS in advance for any help.

Grace Kelly of course died, but presumably she retired before marrying Prince Rainier.

While he did quite a bit while alive, I immediately thought of Sal Mineo.

Would Marilyn Monroe be included?

Thanks, Sal and CL

Both MM & Sal Mineo worked at or near the top over several decades. [funnily enough -namedrop alert - I met them both ]

And, yes, Grace Kelly died after she'd given up her screen career -- which also lasted over a couple of decades.

I'm really after people whose careers never had a chance to blossom because they died ... stars who only had a chance to register on screen in -- oh, let's say -- about 5 films.

Ooh, just thought of one ... Franoise Dorlac, Catherine Deneuve's sister. I know she made more than 5 films, but it's my acc and I'm making an exception for her!!

Please do keep 'em coming, though. Should be an interesting collection of films for acc fans, I hope!

Yep, I didn't think she would fit, but that was the best I could do. I'm stumped for other ideas, I'm afraid.

Yes, many thanks -- I'll definitely use Brandon de Wilde whose adult career was cut short by his car accident at the age of 30. Actually, he didn't make so many features as a kid, either. Perfect for this acc! Plus, as far as I can recall, he was my first screen crush when he appeared in the title role of Kim! Little girl Swooooooooooon!!

Now let me think...

What was the name of that guy who starred in "Beheading Chinese"?

And of course you dont need me to say John Cazale, do you?
