So when is Cankle gonna post some declined reviews for analysis? I was looking forward to critiquing them.

Canklefetish has had 664 reviews published since 21st Feb this year. I think this demonstrates how hard the MERPs have been working to clear the backlog of reviews, and this should be appreciated in itself.

Canklefetish, I have checked out your reviews, and I feel that, like many of us, you have some good reviews, but also some very average reviews, so perhaps you are being a little harsh on others. Perhaps your flurry of submissions has sapped your creative juices.... We all go through a period of feeling our reviews are being incorrectly rejected - but I've posted beloved reviews several times and have had the flaws pointed out to me by more experience reviewers. It helps with understanding how to write better reviews.

Ever the latecomer, and "boring-ass" person, I return this thread to the topic at hand:

The idea here is to think up reviews that are only 4 words long. Sometimes those reviews seem to be, or actually are "boring-ass". The fact that they were accepted by the MERPs means that the writer succeeded in their task - which isn't an easy one. The inclusion of humour within those measley four words should be considered an added bonus. Writing a witty review is absolutely NOT obligatory. However, those are the reviews that get lots of votes. If you think a review is "boring-ass" you need not vote for it and are invited to attempt to write one that is fascinating and amusing!

Here's a challenge to the author of this topic and other inclined people. Have a look at this seemingly boring review and tell me how/ why it can be a brilliant review. Of course, you'll have to do some preliminary investigation on IMDB. The point I am trying to make is that some reviews may look simple or downright stupid but can have several hidden layers of meaning. Some of them are clever wordplay on names of characters/ actors, like several of CL's reviews. Sal's "Indian summer" did not fly till people realized the genius behind it. So, it'd be hasty to pre-judge someone's work and take names publicly.

I created a thread once about subtle reviews; maybe I should dig it out.

Just when you think you've said everything everybody says it again.

Well done Cankle, as MisterbI said,

this IS the worst thread EVER.

Aside for Cankle's publically naming of names, I don't think we should jump all over him completely.

This thread has been written several times before. I felt the same way when I first joined the site. I'm someone who tries to write clever, funny reviews and was disappointed and frustrated when something I thought was brilliant got shot down, while others raced up the top 100 reviewers list.

I think the most important thing to realize is that people write reviews for different reasons. Some people like collecting accolades, some people like writing as many reviews as possible to see their name move up the top 100 list. Some, like Bigger Boat, rarely submit reviews but when they do, it's brilliant! I truly respect the people who chose quality over quantity.

Me? I'm a vote whore. I love when a reivew cracks the 20-vote barrier and I'm looking to finally get a review to break the 50-vote barrier. (Can you help? "Ford. Explorer." for Raiders of the Lost Ark is currently at 48 votes.)

So my advice is to basically focus on your own reviews and don't let what others submit bother you.
Take pride in writing puns and clever reviews. If soembody else wants to write straight, boring reviews, that's his or her choice. As has been said before, if you think a review is boring, don't vote for it.

P.S. Cankle, if you have a review that you thought was brilliant and was turned down, a good idea is to submit it to the Fourum for a second opinion. Many times, fellow FWFRers didn't even understand my review that I thought was destined to be in the all-time top 100.
