What genre of films do you stick to? I stick to reviewing horror/slasher/gore/cult type films, and I try to add as many films as I can that are not on here yet, so far its 69 added and rising....
how many films added by you?
also, I dont want to seem cocky, but i cant help but wonder, those of you with the highest rankings, do you review films you have not seen yet? it just seems like that would be the case, unless all you do every day is watch about 5 movies from every genre. Call me close minded, but I can only stay with one Genre and closely related sub genres. I also only like to review films I have actually seen.

Hi Cheese Grader and welcome to the fourum. It's nice to see you here and hope you stick around!
I've been here since last August, I believe my first review was approved on August 31. I've added 54 79 (new accolades) films, most of which I've written reviews for, even if they are still pending. I'm at home full time and have lots of viewing time available. When I see a new film advertised on tv, I look to see if it's been added yet. If not, I add it, and if something strikes me, I will write a review on it right away.
I guess that means the answer to your second question is no, I haven't seen all the films I've reviewed. Having said that, I go to the IMDB and read about the film, check out reviews that are there and other places on the web before I write one. I almost always write a review when I watch a film, if not 2 or 3, even if it is a film I've already reviewed. Plus in my (much too long) life, I've seen hundreds of films. I was a film buff by the age of 8 (yes, that's true, it's when I first started watching the afternoon movies which were at that time the great films from the 40s and 50s) and Bette Davis was one of my first favorites. However, there are times when I've seen (or most likely listened to 5 or more films a day. I tend to keep the tv on a movie channel and multitask.
Writing reviews for here takes a knack for a bit of a skewed viewpoint, or maybe a twisted sense of humor. It most definitely requires a knack for puns. As I've been here, I think my imagination for reviews has developed, though one of my first reviews remains my highest rated. I think I wrote something like 95 reviews the first three days I was here because I started thinking back on all the films I'd seen and was coming up with something for them.
I review lots of genres which basically just depends on my personal taste, which is wide and varied. I don't see many foreign or horror films these days, though I usually know what the film is about because of what I do for a living.

If I think of an FWFR, I will go searching for a film to put it too. Best example of mine would be this one.
I will review anything, seen or not.
The best thing about FWFR is that you can treat it the way you want.

To answer some of your questions...
I don't stick to one genre of films for reviewing because I don't stick to one genre of film watching. I like all types of movies.
I'll write reviews for films I haven't seen. I, like Foxboy, sometimes I think up of funny reviews and try to find the review that fits with it.
I remember I came up with the phrase "Gang of new dorks" and I remember hoping for a Revenge of the Nerds sequel that would match it when I found this one. It was a perfect match!
I generally write reviews in a way that people can understand them even if they haven't seen the film. I'm a vote whore and I find you get more votes that way.
People submit reviews for different reasons. Some like collecting accolades, some submit as many as possible to move up the top 100 list, some will only submit a few brilliant reviews every couple of weeks because they prefer quality over quantity.
Hope you are enjoying the site as much as we all are.

As the others have already said, FWFRers use the site in many ways their mysteries to perform. My focus seems to have changed somewhat since I joined.
Sometimes I still think I'm a newbie, though in March I marked my 1st year anniversary. During that time I've added 551 618 films, but that's mostly because I love making accolades [121 137 so far], and sometimes I don't know what I've let myself in for! -- and there's no way to tell till you do it how many of the films you want to put into your accolade are already on our database. And, no  I haven't reviewed all of them. [yet] 
Actually, when I started I did only review films I'd already seen, and thought it a bit weird to do otherwise - but now, like the others, if I think of a good review I try to find a film to nail it to. And some titles are irresistible - plus you don't really have to have seen the film to write something. I mean -- I haven't yet -- but even I can see that Monsturd conjures up --- ooo, it's just TOO HORRIBLE to think of!!!  But great FWFR territory
Another reason to review unseen films is if you're chasing an accolade. Then I look on imdb or wherever to get a feel of the film, its plot, characters, etc -- that usually allows me to write at least an informative, if not entirely clever review.
Like WildHartLiv, my cine-tastes are eclectic and - being prob'ly the oldest FWFRer - I'm at least a contender for most films ever seen - it would be in the tens of thousands. Plus it's a life that's involved reviewing films professionally, so that's a LOTTA films.
Anyway - I hope you stay around. We're a friendly buncha nerds and nerdettes here. Have lots of fun -- just be warned. FWFR is addictive!

| Welcome! As for me, I started out here by reviewing films I either really loved or totally hated. Then I started getting into achieving accolades and that's when I started reviewing films that I had never seen. Now I mostly mix it up. If a new film is added here that I think I can write a funny review of, I'll try that. When I see a film, I'll try to write a couple of reviews for it. Finally, when I notice an accolade that looks interesting, I'll work on reviewing all those films - seen or unseen. |

Genres I review are not linked to genres I favour, except that I only occasionally review gross-out films.
I've added 975 films (plus unrecognised ones from before Benj added the facility to count these/ones which I already had pending when Benj added them). Other than it being fair (i.e. when there are duplicates the newer ones getting deleted), I don't care about this statistic at all. I only add films for reviews or accolades or which really should be on the site (e.g. Georgy Girl/Andy Warhol's films/current films - almost all of the latter go into one of my accolades anyway).
When reviewing, am indifferent to whether I have seen a film. However, as I don't chase accolades, this is more likely to be films I know about (from elsewhere or here), rather than ones I read about on the I.M.D.B. especially. Like others, though, I'm happy to search for a film when I separately think of a review. |

Hi CG, & welcome to ur four-worded world.
I've added 48 films (not a lot for having 1000+ reviews), no particular genre, and I'm currently accolade chasing as a way of upping the review numbers besides reviewing films that I have seen. I'll watch almost anything, review anything and I find that a lack of taste helps occasionally (look here for some fine examples, mainly from others).

I've been a fwiffer since Sept 06. I review all genres. I don't go for quantity in reviews (i.e. I don't submit to the 20 limit each week). I haven't submitted reviews for many of my favourite films because I can't come up with anything more original than what's already been done.
At the moment I am just going for two accolades, demonic's Harryhausen one, and Holden's Favourites - which has sort of been by accident because I had 5 out of the 8 without realising it. I'm just waiting for number 8 to pass the MERP process at the moment. For Ghostbusters. I've struggled to write a good one and had a few rejected!
I've only got two reviews for films I haven't seen. They are for two Harryhausen movies I couldn't get out on DVD. |

I will review anything, and as a marker to tell me I have an approved review I grade the film, if I've not seen it I give it a grade of 2 else an honest grade
I started grading films I had seen kinda like ChocolateLady films I love or hate
I have 4014 reviews over 2223 films
I have added 1352 films and if I ever add a ll the films for all my accolades I will get close to 2000 films at the end of it.
I am not genre specific, and if I see a film I will generally add at least one review generally 3-5.

This is A.C.'s policy too. How come you don't flag all such films instead? And how come you don't give 3 (i.e. the half-way score)?
Just asking because I often add obscure films that are important to me to accolades, and it gets me down to see them get low scores for no good reason. |

Interesting. I also only grade a film once I've had a review approved for it, but I would be loath to skew the rating for a film with a 2 or a 3 or anything if I haven't seen it yet. It means that every so often I look through my unscored films and grade the ones I have seen in the meantime. It also encourages me to see the films that I have thought of reviews for. I also avoid grading films that I saw years ago and really can't remember in enough detail to score.
Relating to one of CG's questions - I don't find it necessary to have seen a film to write an decent fwfr of it. Some basic knowledge is sometimes all that is needed along with a punning mind. My highest rated review for a film I haven't seen yet is in its 40s! |

I was doing the same as AC beofre the flag button was introduced. It was the only way of knowing what you had reviewed. I now have/will remove scores for films I haven't seen.  |
