The link to IMDb on each film page goes through to the IMDb US site.

Unfortunately not only does this take longer to load - at least for those of us in the UK - but it also has a slow unstoppable (as far as my software is concerned) quasi-pop-up by forcing open another tab with an ad.

The UK site loads quicker and doesn't, at least not yet, have this pop-up crap, so can you change the link for UK users to the appropriate UK IMDb page, instead of the US one?

As things stand it's much quicker for me not to use the fwfr page link but just to copy the film name, open another tab myself and go to the IMDb UK site - http://uk.imdb.com - and paste the film name in, which is a shame.

I would prefer the links to be the http://www.imdb.com ones. However, I have never had any problems with the //us. ones opening: I would just prefer the neutral version of the site in principle.

Will have a look into this once internet arrives at my flat later this week.

I seem to recall there was some problem that having the links set to us.imdb.com solved (personally, I prefer www.imdb.com- theoretically, it lets imdb better determine which version of itself to display) but hopefully this problem won't resurface.

Well, having checked it a little further, when I call up either www.imdb.com, www.uk.imdb.com or www.us.imdb.com they all come up quickly with no appreciable difference.

However, when I use the fwfr-provided links (to a specific movie page) I get a considerable delay. It goes to the us.imdb address but also opens a junk pop-up (out-thinking my pop-up blocker!). But, when I go to that same address independently, ie the individual film page, I get no problem and no pop-up.

So, it seems as if the country site isn't the issue, its that fwfr links somehow open a pop-up too which takes plenty of time to load.

Can you solve this problem?

I have ditto experience - pop-up is usually a US class-reunite site - but as it opens in new firefox tag it doesn't stop imdb from opening. Still - would be nice if popper died!

Yes Baffs, that's right. I'm not saying that it stops IMDB from opening, but on my system it causes a very noticeable delay before it does, maybe half a minute or so, during which Firefox is completely frozen up. (And this applies to using Firefox with the IE engine too.)

It is possible this is a Firefox related problem, as Opera doesn't seem to delay at all or pop-up.
