Yeah, to speed things up, we should go on the honour system. Assume the supplied answer is correct and post another bizarre pairing. Note: You don't need to have a specific film in mind that will fit your entry. At least not with this bunch.

O.K., I'll go.

A lawyer and a barber.

Let's say (in general) if someone is confident of an answer, they should pose the next one straight away. If they are only guessing, they should make this clear and give time for other guesses/a sure answer.

The Straight Story -- in which Richard Farnsworth drives a lawnmower hundreds of miles to see his estranged brother [Harry Dean Stanton]. When the mower breaks down along the way he's taken in by a kind family who lodge him in a camper-van.

[apologies WHL et al for the late explanation]

A ginger cat and a long cigarette holder

I'm not sure - is there a ginger cat in 101 Dalmations? Or is there a long cigarette holder in Alice in Wonderland?

(I didn't see the Garfield movies, so I wouldn't know about the cigarette holder.)

Ooopsy... in The Man Who Wasn't There, Billy Bob Thornton plays a barber involved in a blackmail case that goes askew. Tony Shalhoub plays the high-priced lawyer who is hired for the defence.

Now name a movie that features a victrola and a football game (thats American Football before anyone gets any silly ideas).

Incidentally I have no film in mind, but I am sure there is such a thing.

Never mind which type of football you mean... what the heck is a victrola? Googling it seems to come up with coffee roasters or some weird kind of cupboard with a turntable on top

ah, the victrola! That's what we used to play our old fashioned records on. You had to put the needle into the playing arm, load on your 78 record, being very careful not to break it, be sure you set the needle straight into the record groove so it didn't get scratched, and then listen to ... oh, Gilbert & Sullivan, or The Mills Brothers - well, you get the idea.

Yes a victrola is a old time record player with a hand crank (I apologize in advance if 'hand crank' sounds lascivious to the UK English speakers - I will have to defer to our most bilingual FWFRer, Bafta, to translate).

So basically you are looking for a movie that is set in say the 1950's or earlier and has football in it. Preferably there would also be a record played. Also if the movie has a football game and scenes of the living room / parlor - odds are it qualifies - everyone has victrolas in old movies - its standard scenery if you have a fancy apartment. Any hand cranked phonograph counts.
