I'm thinking Heaven Can Wait - the 1978 version of Here Comes Mr. Jordan. Joe Pendleton is an American Football player who is taken accidentally by the angel of death (Mr. Jordan) and when they realize their mistake, put him in the body of the guy that was supposed to die instead - a very rich, old guy. Pendelton's hobby is playing the saxophone, and there's one scene where (if I recall correctly) he discovers the guy's old victrola and puts on an old record and starts playing the sax with it.

(Did I get this right? Should I be putting a new one up now?)

((I thought maybe it was Meet Me in St. Louis, but that's a basketball, not a football.))

(((And yes, Bafta, I am kicking myself about Breakfast at Tiffany's!)))

Well I cant find any pictures to back this up. But I know it has to be. One of the most memorable scenes from 'School Ties'. All the students are back in the dorm singing the song "Smokey Joe's Cafe". I know it is a record playing and since it is in the 50's it must be on a victrola. Anyone have the movie to back me up? Or can find the scene picture? I know I am right. THat is just a memorable scene. Since I am 98% sure of it...I will continue.

Name a movie that features a Swimming Pool and a Toilet

Damn....Choco Lady was a few seccond before me. I am 98% sure ...how much are you sure? Well If Choco got it first...then Shes up next

Ah...

Okay... any of the American Pie movies?

(That's a wild guess, I haven't seen any of them all the way through but I remember seeing a clip with a pool in one of them and their humour is so trashy, they must have a toilet involved in one of their jokes.)

Wait! Do you mean The Big Lebowski? That works perfectly!

Okay, since I'm now 99% sure, I'll go with...

Tuna fish and cigarettes!

I'd have said "The Party" for a swimming pool & toilet.

As for tuna fish & Cigarettes, did any of the characters in A Perfect Storm smoke?

I don't know if they was tuna in that movie - they were cod fisherman - however as I recall the lady the kid hooked up with at the bar did smoke. BUt I am not sure on the tuna...

In Bananas Woody Allen orders some sandwiches:

Woody - Do you have any grilled cheese sandwiches?
Waiter - Yes, sir.
Woody - Well, let me have a thousand. And... tuna fish... and bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches.

And he discusses cigarettes:

-What brand are you smoking?
- These.
-Well, those are for sinners.
- Try these New Testament cigarettes.
- New Testament?
- They've got the incense filter.
- l'll try one.

Next up postage stamp and Arby's (a US chain of roast beef sandwich restaurants)

That wasn't the movie that I was thinking about, actually, but since this basically fits the bill, I will agree for you to go on. In case anyone was wondering (aside from Sal), I was thinking of Matchstick Men where Nick Cage is a chain smoker and the only food he has in his house is cans of tuna fish.

So, we have to figure out postage stamp and Arby's? Hm...

Oh, because if you had Googled "tuna fish and cigarettes" you would have found not only my film reviews of Matchstick Men, but also an MP3 from that same movie by Hans Zimmer with that title as well.

By the way, I'm partially responsible for that being in the story. When I was on the newsgroup misc.writing with Eric Garcia (the author of the book), he once asked us if we could only have one food to eat every single day, what would we choose. I replied that despite my username, and as long as I could still have my cigarettes, my answer would be tuna fish. When I asked Eric later if my reply to his post had anything to do with the Obsessive Compulsive meals of his main character, he said "I won't deny it".

I htink googling is fine btw. Also remember the asker can pose with a certain film in mind, but the answerer can give any answer that fits. So Salopian if you have a movie that fits - go for it.
