First of all, yes Yiddish uses Hebrew characters.
Secondly, the word/name can be spelled Haim or Chaim - makes no real difference, just a matter of personal preference. (Want to know how many ways are totally acceptable to spell the Jewish holiday that comes in December? There are at least 6 that I know of, if not more.)
Lastly, my pending list is so small I'll wait for the MERPs to do their thang when they have time. |

I think Mguyx has overexplained it. (MguyX? Say it isn't so!)
I don't really care if it is a mispronunciation of the sound "ayim"... I would approve the review and vote for it.
The Hebrew Hammer would have worked as a five minute SNL skit. As a film, it was Lchame! My biggest chuckle from it was reading Mguyx's rejected review.
Okay, as long as I'm chiming in here, I decided to resubmit my ode to Jar Jar for "The Godfather":
Wheeza gonna die?
You'd have to recall Brando's fall in the tomato garden. |

Lemmy can you see?
Well, looks like this was a good idea after all. |

I completely overexplained it Sludgie.
I agree with your post in every respect. In fact, my Lchame review was the only chuckle I got out of it too. |

O.K. Everybody's got that ONE review that's been sitting in the pending pile since the dawn of creation. Like a little baby angel, it waits anxiously to be born ... or like the scientist at the end of the fly (the original), it begs for a sudden death ("Help me! Help meeee!)"
Here's my proposal:
Dear MERPs, please help us poor buggers supplicants spruce up our pending piles by letting us get rid of ONE pending review that's starting to mold, and thereby is stinking up the joint.
Supplicants: pick your OLDEST review from the pending pile (or just ONE that you want to move along its way), report the review and the film here in this thread.
Include a plea for mercy. Then let's see what happens.
I would propose the following additional guidelines: Pick only ONE review -- by asking for more, the MERPs should automatically treat you like that greedy little Oliver Twist send the reviews to the end of the line/queue. Don't be a greedy little pig and ask for more, because you're likely going to screw it up for the rest of us good little piggies!
[I'm just tired of looking at my oldest review, and I don't know how else to get some action on it, especially since it's for a fairly obscure film!]
Obviously, I can't guarantee anything, except another thread where we bitch about the approval process .. BUT ONLY AS IT PERTAINS TO ONE FILM! I'm hoping this modest approach might garner some sympathy.
Several of us are in you debt, MguyX. Not since Dean Swift has such A Modest Proposal caught people's attention. Thank you. |

This thread works for me!
It's funny, people often join the forum just to complain about their rejected or yet-to-be certified reviews, and here's an open invitation for same and it's only two pages, mostly devoted to L'Chame. C'mon folks, carpe something.
I didn't realize MguyX is part of the +1... off to vote for it.

Thanks Sludge, and lem!
So far, we're a perfect 6 for 6! I guess most other folks just don't care to display their older efforts anymore.
Well, at least we all got some love. |

Well, the proposal was for only ONE review, and we may be trying the patience of MERPS, I don't know. But I would propose another condition: if a reviewer has the selected review acted upon (up or down), and the reviewer has another review that is more than 6 months old that s/he wants to submit, then maybe it could be posted and acted upon too?
(I hope the MERPs don't strike me down for being pushy.)
Unfortunately, I have no pending reviews older than six months, so I'm out. |
