I just submitted a review for Hitchcock's I Confess. As I often do with lesser known films, I immediately added an explanation. When I clicked "update," the review had already been approved!!
It couldn't have been more than twenty or thirty seconds between initially submitting it and updating it with an explanation. It's the fastest I've ever had a review approved! And it's definitely not an obvious review. Thanks to whoever did it.
Has anyone ever had a review approved directly after submitting it?

Yeah I get immediate approvals every once in a while, isn't it the best thing ever?! A couple of times after submitting reviews I've looked at my pending list to make sure it's there and that I haven't hit my submission limit, and been completely confused for a few seconds until I work out what's happened!
I also get immediate declines sometimes though which aren't quite as awesome.
Maybe we should challenge the MERPs to see which one of them can approve a review the fastest...? |

You should have been around when we had to wait months for decisions. Of course, there were no such things as MERPs back then, just one single solitary ERP.
Some claim adjudication matters have improved since then, some say nope, better before. My observation is that they've simply changed, and good for them. In that MERPless parallel universe there would surely be a thread by now entitled, Slowest ERP In The West? Believe you me, there definitely would be mucho bitching about slow speed. But then, honi soit qui mal y pense, you know. |

Yeah, I get them as well. There must be an automated MERP expressly created for those immediate declines. Usually the given reason is "too similar to another review," or even recently "too similar to another submission." I was a little miffed about that one because, come to find out, an anonymous reviewer had submitted it first. So I was beaten out by an unnamed rival!

I think I was around when submissions would accumulate in bunches in the pending pile. But there wasn't a submission cap then, and I'll bet that the fastest reviewers in the West could submit 20 reviews in less than 20 minutes. I've never really had a problem with slow approvals, but it's unusual for me to have a review approved immediately. Must be that psychic MERP that MguyX is referring to.

The Lamest MERP in the West award goes to the one who deigned to write "Good try" as their whole 'explanation'. |

That's actually quite funny. As is the idea of Benj being an 'Erp.
That could be the half price cocktails speaking though.
I've particularly enjoyed times when I've had a run of submission/approvals in a chain... I think my best run was about three or four one early morning where it felt like the MERP and I had a wordless interaction going on. I was taking full advantage of the immediate admin attention and was on a streak of good ideas. Happy times. |

Did you get that Hitchcock box set of six movies over the christmas period which included 'I Confess'?
Or is it just a coincidence? |

Tread carefully Baffy, all that pressure may give him Stage Fright. |

...and it's been known for extreme cases of Stage Fright to make people have heart attacks and die, in which case we'd have to Dial M For Murder and get you arrested Baffy.
(Or maybe it would be M For Manslaughter?) |

Haha yeah that really does suck. I had the same thing a little while ago. It turned out me and demonic had submitted exactly the same review, but he submitted it before me!
(Well actually, he submitted it quite a while before, had it approved, and then made a change to it, so it wasn't there when I first went on the film to review it, it was still pending when I submitted mine!) |

Yes, sorry about that [matt] - I tried it without the hyphens but with no success. |
