A fairly straight-forward selection on the whole - I'm particularly pleased to see Christoph Waltz and Mo'Nique pick up awards - definitely two of the best performances of the last year, and good that "Up" and "The White Ribbon" have been recognised as the great films they are. "Avatar" probably didn't deserve best film, as it is purely a cash-cow popcorn movie, albeit one that I enjoyed and one that is advancing movie technology. I'm most surprised about Sandra Bullock though - I've not seen her performance but I'll be knocked down if it's better than the work of her fellow noms. |
