(couldn't see another thread for this - please forgive me if I missed it)
So anyway - Sean loves penguins. I love penguins. I'm guessing we all love penguins.
We love the idea of them. We love the way they move. We love their simple colouration. And, when we discover how many species there are, we love them even more for exhibiting such variety with the same basic equipment.
They're just adorable.
If you have kids, they are going to love this film because, yes, it is FULL of penguins. For a while there are only adults, acting out a meaningless script which feels suspeciously like a whole lotta other scripts in the Feel-Good-Family barrel.
But once the penguins arrive, the story is secondary - nudged valiantly along by Jim Carrey who is extremely talented and I don't care whether you like him or not. But he's really just phoning this one in.
The real stars of the show, of course, are the team of sfx wizards who made those gentoos so real you want to keep throwing fish at the screen.
Lotsa cute.
(the sharp eyed among you will recognize Uncle Junior from The Sopranos)
