Well spotted, damalc. There are a lot more than 'several' witty gems.
I can only assume that many didn't get to the bottom of the page. I found plenty of corkers with 0 votes that now have only my vote, that I would expect to have 15-30 votes with more exposure.
Edit: Self promotion? Not at all.... |

Thank you for the intro Damalc, you're a gent!
Hey everyone, thanks for the welcome and the votes!!
I'm not sure about shy, perhaps keen not to be so obviously and actively self-promoting myself. It's hard to kow how to begin on this fourum without seeming like a vote hound though.
I've been registered since the beginning of February and the whole four word ethic has pretty much taken me over. I can't help but sit in the cinema or in front of the TV now wondering how I can review it later. It's a disturbingly all consuming business!
I've tried to make every review count, and not submit anything that doesn't have some double meaning or reference, so i'm pretty proud of my collection so far... I'm really pleased to share them with you...
I'll certainly be exploring the reviews of everyone who reads my reviews and responds to this topic (a small incentive there..? )
I love how international this board is already - Canadian, Australian, a New Yorker, I'm a Brit... film reviewers of the world unite!
Sean: Thanks for your comments. From your keyboard to the community's ears...
Silly: Somehow the dreadful ones are more fun to review aren't they? I've got a few pending that I hope get approved, just for my own amusement. |

I wouldn't worry too much... next to some of us, you'd still look shy even if you were buying votes with sex favors.
(not that there's anything wrong with that) |

Say Sean... on your Blues Brothers review (budget blown on cars), I think I heard Akroyd say that they blew most of their budget on extras. They only used a couple dozen cars and had a 24 hour body shop to put them back together for the next scene (couldn't have been cheap, though)
But the crowd scenes, especially the finale, cost a fortune to cast.
I voted for your review anyway since I liked it, it brings up images of cars getting blown up.

So that was you, silly? Thanks, and right back at ya.
I wasn't aware of the cost of extras in Blues Brothers, but it makes sense I suppose.

Akroyd said that "they" wouldn't let him make any more movies for a while after that. I guess now with CGI they could just insert a bunch of extras...
I saw John Landis give a talk about the movie, he had lots of information. It seems odd (now) that all of the musicians in the movie were probably the easiest thing to arrange - they were all looking for work at the time. |

Hi Demonic,
An excellent collection and I've already hit a good few and will certainly pop back to look over the rest.

This is a noble philosohpy and one I try to stick to myself. It can slow down the process a bit, waiting for inspiration to strike, but if you are proud of what you've written it is well worth it.

I'd say you were a natural at the vote getting game. Only one thing you can bribe everyone here with....VOTES!
If you don't want to self promote too much I can suggest the regular FYC Treasure Hunt as a fairly low key way of getting your reviews seen. Anyway keep churning them out and I'll vote on 'em.

Welcome demonic - and do follow the recommendation to join in the FYC treasure hunt. It quickly becomes a twice-weekly ritual - you know, like cleaning your teeth.
I detect a sense of humour not unlike my own - in fact I reckon I voted for almost one in five of demonic's reviews. Keep 'em coming! |

Welcome to FWFR demonic.
Don't worry about shameless self promotion in the Fourum. I quickly learned that everone in Fourum is a vote whore so don't be shy. Feel free to beg for votes.

P.S. Dalmalc, are you really a sports writer? I was a sports writer at a newspaper for 10 years until I made the switch to entertainment a few months ago.
