One could put it like that, but my way of looking at it is that if one attempts to be funny but does not actually refer to the film properly, then it actually isn't as funny. The point of puns is to play on phrases in a relevant sense, not just to change them in any old meaningless way.

We have had this discussion before, and I am in the minority of minorities, but I am happy if a review is just funny (in a "using homonyms as synonyms" sort of way), and has just the slightest of allusions to the film in question. But I am williing enough(and gracious enough, for I am fucking awesome) to let this one go.

This is the same for me, though. It's just that, as I've just said, it is not as funny if it doesn't have both aspects. (I cannot believe this discussion has come from such a so-so review, though.)

Oh Sal,

You are smart enough to admit that people have different senses of humour!!

Oh Ali,

You will goad won't you!!!

On a different topic I had an Idea about trying a once off themed FYC where everybody chooses the same five movies to submit but I do not see myself getting up and to a pc by six am anytime soon to suggest it then.

I am sure that there are five movies we have all seen. Sure even if it doesn't completely work it's just a bit of fun.

Any thoughts??

Um, that was my point. Both Ali and I base our different preferences on what we find funny. Everything one states is one's opinion, so when I said "it is not as funny if it doesn't have both aspects" that obviously means "I think that it is not as funny if it doesn't have both aspects".

Yes, I think it would be nice to have themes sometimes, though they would always have to be optional in case people did not have suitable reviews/just wanted to highlight others. However, if we started doing this, we should indeed really move Thursday to 6 p.m., as it wouldn't be fair that some people could start themed rounds and not others.

I'm sure you're right, but five that we've all reviewed? However, I agree that it would not matter if it were incomplete and not everybody could cover all five films.

Now this debate is funny.

The world has given us Lincoln/Douglas, Kennedy/Nixon, Darrow/Bryan, Jules/Marcellus and Pinky/The Brain. Now FWFR has its own master debating Team!

My Pinky usually wipes the floor with my brain. Especially after a few beers.

Actually it wouldn't matter if it was just a theme rather than the same five films. Part of the fun of choosing your five would be the imagination involved to include them in that theme. Great idea, I think.

Why don't we keep these bi-weekly FYCTH rounds as they are, and introduce a new, weekly Theme-based FYCTH, which can start on, say, Wednesdays at 6 P.M?

Everyone's happy. Most of all, the shiny ones.

I like the way this thought has progressed I'm on for it (with Ali's introduction of 6 pm Wed starting point for themed Fycth)

Any obvious pitfalls we have overlooked or any further suggestions or are we just talking through our Arses?

I slightly hesitant to see the introduction of three FYC rounds a week, just from the amount of time I'm already spending on the site. How about dropping to one round of standard FYC and adding one themed? Say standard runs from Monday 6am to Monday and themed runs Thursday 6pm to Thursday?

I don't believe the answer is dropping one. Those who don't wish to enter three could chose whichever two they want in any given week.

EDIT: I was assuming that the new themed one would be a stand alone.
