I'm not sure I like the idea of a themed FYCTH - either together with the regular two or as a separate one. One of the best things about the FYCTH is that even the newest members can (mostly) fill out a regular FYC page. But if they have to do it on a theme, they'll be left out altogether since they probably won't have enough reviews for the theme. Only having one chance in a week to get votes could be discouraging and newer members need the encouragment that getting votes from the more veteran members gives them. Making us choose which FYC we want to enter will also cut down those votes for both FYCs.
No, I think if we want to have a themed type of FYC we should do it separately under a completely different heading, like a new contest.

True, CL, the Fycth is such a concrete success that the aim of this 'themed vote getting' was not to take away from it at all but to have a little fun. I shuold give it some more thought before talking through my arse again, but I do like the idea if a theme (like EM's IHAI whee you picked an individual movie with multiple reviews but I know it excludes some people)
So the best thing is to let the idea settle and take it up in another thread at a further stage. |

Like Bean says I'm imagining it happening as a brand new thread - TYC #1 etc, while FYC carries on as per. |

V&V to here.
I generally like the idea of a themed "TYC". The question is, if FYC continued as now, where would one post the reviews for TYC? Since FYC participants can vote at any time during the Mon-Wed and Thurs-Sun periods, and some often wait until Wed or Sun night, it seems that you would have to post TYC reviews elsewhere (assuming people would want to do both the FYCTH and the proposed TYC). Or would you just choose to enter one or the other?
Am I making any sense?

Personally, I don't think a separate category of thread is a good idea, nor for one of these threads per week to be set aside. I think an occasional (based on times of year, special reasons for the poster or varying other special ideas) optional theme is a better way. However, I would go along with whatever the consensus would be. |

Josh I Like your Italian job review though it may be a little anti-american, all in the best possible taste!!
Right now I am faced with a goddaughter whose intent on puking and shitting everywhere so my heart goes out to parents everywhere.
But if you're interested in my argument for a themed for your consideration or condiseration join me here

VV to this spot.
Turrell, I really dug your "Rocky" review! Now go find my review for "Angels With Dirty Faces" and you'll see why!
P.S., Forgive a simple question, but what the heck is the big deal about WHO starts an FYC thread??? Does it really matter in the scheme of the universal timeline of history? Or to Hollywood, for that matter?

I confess: I was a little daunted when I logged on tonight and it appeared there were six (now seven?) pages of reviews to go through.
I praise: BiggerBoat has now had my vote for all five of his.
I vote: Thursday FYCTH to start at 6pm. Themed FYC competitions to be as and when, and not interfere with the normal, twice-weekly treasure hunts. |

Just a thought.
For make benefit of others from many parts globe, 6.00am FWFR time is six o' clock in the morning where Sal lives. |

It would be a sad and strange day that ever saw me up at 6am unless I was just going to bed, or my house was on fire. Otherwise forget it. |

House on fire or not, I'll see you all tomorrow with the next FYCTH round - as previously scheduled. |
