I had to take a shower afterwards to wash the saccharine off. A truly horrible viewing experience.

Clearly the reason why it had such mixed reviews.

Yep. Takes all sorts to make an underworld.

Notwithstanding my opinion of the film, I wrote this great review which has never received a single vote.

The film is based on the legend of Orpheus in the Underworld, by the way.

For me my guilty pleasure is probably anything with Adam Sandler in it, but not because of Sandler.

I regard Adam Sandler as a force for evil in the world (he's in large part responsible for the cinematic presence of Rob Schneider) and think I really only enjoy his films for the sheer enjoyment of seeing topnotch actors letting loose and having fun; Steve Buscemi, John Turturro.

And I agree with Whippersnapper about "What Dreams May Come".... if ever there was a film to feel guilty about enjoying, that would be it...it belongs in the bargain bin at the video store along with all the other SERIOUS ROBIN WILLIAMS MOVIES (read "Love me! Give Me an Oscar!") like Patch Adams, the early simpering scenes of Mrs Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society (which is also guilty of unleashing Ethan Hawke upon us) and the piece of dripping turd about the boy who grows too old too quickly
