I thought this approval process was going to be much quicker when i joined the site and some of my reviews were approved within two days, but after that almost nothing happened for three weeks and i was starting to get worried. Fortunately i had most of my reviews approved (...and some denied :() today. Right now i must have 11 or 12 reviews pending, most were written today. |

I just voted on some of your reviews. I like 'Romans are grammar Nazis' for Life of Brian! |

Well i kinda had to, It's an assignment for my film class. Of course, the assignment was only 10 reviews, and i'm still writing them, so i think i'm going to be sticking here for a while.
Oh, and thanks for the votes |

Keep up the good work, tonio! You have some good reviews there (and I just voted on a few of them). Just remember, right now (due to the large backlog) there is a 20 review maximum per week. When things calm down, that will either be dropped or increased.
In the meanwhile, join in on some of the contests here - like the FWTO (Four Word Tastless Obituary) or the FWPT (Four Word Porn Title). Keeps your hand in while you're waiting between 00:00 (GMT) Mondays.
Oh, and Welcome!

Welcome, Tonio. I liked No(-oooo!) hand Luke for "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back". Keep 'em coming.

If a review I've submitted gets rejected and doesn't have an explination, then I'll just add the explination. If it already has an explination, I'll try to revise the review or make the explination better. But if it gets rejected after the second submission, I usually delete and try again with something a bit different. I see that my review for The Return finally got accepted, I think that was my fourth version of trying to pun on the famous paranormalist who shares the same last name as the star in this movie.
(No, they're not related.)
It would be surprising if they were related - their surnames are spelt differently. (Your review uses the Uri spelling.) I've voted, though.
Actually, it wouldn't be surprizing if they were related despite the different spelling. We Jews wander so much, it is no surprize that relatives have differently spelled names depending on where they ended up. Hell, my father's family has two different last names - Shuster and Stone. His father changed it from Schuster to Shuster (and my father thought of putting the 'c' back in, at one time) after several years living in Chicago. Another branch of the family went from Estonia to the UK and were given the name Stone by immigration officers there (we think it came from a misunderstanding mixed with country of origin). I've even heard of people named something difficult to pronounce (and even harder to spell) who were given the last name Cohen just because the immigration officer couldn't be bothered to figure it out.
Thanks for the vote, though!
There are also Baron-Cohens with cousins who are Baron Cohens, as I discovered recently when prompted to check what Sacha's surname actually is. It appears his branch of the family (perhaps Sacha himself, in search of a distinctive 'stage name') dropped the hyphen.
Getting back to the main theme, I have 70 in my pending heap, the earliest dating back to 22 October 2006 (though most are much more recent). I too used to have about five passed in time for exposure in FYCTH, but I suppose that on average I currently have about five or six approvals a week. Hence in theory I could disappear for 14 weeks and come back to find an empty pending list, but I know it doesn't work like that.
I should add that I never forget that: 1. I should eat everything on my plate because somewhere else in the world people are starving. 2. Fossil fuels are dwindling, and they ain't making no more. 3. This site only works because benj and others voluntarily give up their time to sort the wheat from the chaff; 4. It's rare to find a country where good coffee AND good tea are readily available; 5. It must be a peculiar kind of attention-seeking desperation that drives a wealthy and famous woman to display her naked crotch to papparazzi when emerging from a car; and 6. If society insists on turning into 'celebrities' people who are pig-ignorant we shouldn't be shocked when they use their fame to say very publicly things that are offensive to educated people.
Oh, er, wandered off the point there. But I suppose that's what happens in these threads. |

Well, it seems I'm not king of the "unapproved" hill, but I'm in there with 135! I usually add 1 to 10 per day. I guess that means the MERPs are about two weeks behind? heh heh (actually, my oldest pending review was submitted 8/17/06!)
Or, you might say, they are redPending

Well, only four or five of us in our class are doing it. The four-word reviews are an alternate assignment to writing full review for a movie. The assignment was originally 20 reviews but my teacher (who also posts here)dropped it to 10 due to the lengthy approval period.

OK, spill the beans and name names (if you dare).
You may want to take a peek at Baftababe's recent (and rather good) thread on film criticism, and Paddy C's own movie review blog. |
