Don't forget this one (and maybe also this one), BB

Well, thanks, tortelloni shell, but can you please tell me how either of those wonderful films pivots on either photographers or cameras ... what have I missed?

American Beauty: Well, young wossisname filming that plastic bag in the wind is - supposedly - quite important both as a motif and in terms of character illumination, n'est-ce pas?

Holy Grail: The Arthurian knights inadvertently slay a present-day documentary narrator as he's being filmed, which ultimately leads to their arrest by present-day police at the rather disappointing end of the film.

I'll have a wee think about these two ... but it would be a stretch in either case in terms of my original impetus to make the acc. I mean, I can see what you're saying -- and honestly I do appreciate the suggestion. Gimme a while to clarify for myself what I really want this acc to be. OK

No, you're right; they're hard work. I thought they would believe the person themself though!

But I think American Beauty should qualify - the kid across the street is filming things all the time, not just that plastic bag in the wind bit. His films are no small part of the action of the film, if you ask me.

I know, but if you ask the question: what's this film about? I just don't think that element would fit into the answer. This is further borne out by the fact that none of the pro reviews for the film even mention it, and I must admit -- if I were still reviewing films I wouldn't have mentioned it either. I agree it's a metaphorical detail, but the film would still work without it. Whereas cameras and photography are quintessential to Blowup or Peeping Tom or Day For Night.

Thanks, though, and as I say, gimme a couple of days so I can refine exactly the limits of this acc. I still think the concept's a good 'un -- especially for a film site like wot ours is

If I'm so smart why did it take me two days to come up with it?

BTW, this film was banned for years in Ontario. I caught up with it three or four years ago on IFC.

Smart is relative.

By the way Baffy, how about making room for La Dolce Vita?

I just remembered that Hard Day's Night is supposed to be about the Beatles' going on TV. There are lots of cameras there, plus the scene when Ringo goes out and takes pictures by the water. Would that be included?
