...and it's boring me senseless! Geez, if I'm gonna submit 20 reviews every week, can't they at least get off their duffs and approve some of them!

Perhaps they're bored with MERPing? 
And the main MERP (benj) is on his honeymoon so probably doesn't think processing our reviews is a priority.  |

Then what are we living for? benj should've hired some MERPS to do double duty in his absence. I've got nearly 70 reviews pending with nothing approved in over a week and a half. Sheesh!

Yes, but his problem is that I am now just two reviews below him and if I get three approved, he'll drop down a slot.

Maybe so, but that doesn't make 16 into nothing, does it?
In that period I have had 23 acceptances, and, given my pending pile is more than three times greater, I'd say he's doing better than I am.
