Ha, ha, I bet you he doesn't get invited on many english language lecture tours.

This is a bit of a cheat but this Irish politician was very active through my formative years and I really didn't see anything amusing about his name until an english stand-up pointed out that he should be a character in a Carry On movie!!

He's not an actor, but there was a guy who went to school where I did named Dick Tinkle. Not Richard, calling him Dick. Nooooooo, his parents named him Dick, believe it or not. What amused me most was that when I ran a Google search for "Dick Tinkle" in my state, one of the 7 listings had him under "Find A Professional."

Doesn't have a lot to do with films, but...

Take a bus to this village.

I jumped on and rode the Fucker to Wank.

One of the more famous TV gaffe's this side of the pond (well at least on the UK side of the pond) was a cricket commentator who unfortunately announced "The bowler's Holding the batman's Willey", as Michael Holding bowled to Peter Willey during an Enland vs West Indies test match.

I have heard rumours that this didn't actually happen, but I choose to believe it anyway

It looks genuine (Oval, 1976). I don't think it was a gaffe, though - I think he knew just was he was saying.

Presumably driven there by Rolf Wanka!

I read that the locals are upset because British tourists keep stealing the sign!

There was a similar slip on US TV . In a sports bulletin one of the anchors wound up the summary with a story about a fast pitcher who could pitch through a car wash without getting the ball wet.

"Well , he must have the cleanest balls in the league !" replied his co host then collapsed with laughter!
