In my consideration set this time, I thought the one punning on "Shock and Awe" and the one punning on the Naked Gun Series would do well. Surprise! The other reviews have done even better. And one of my friends says, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

Yes, that is the way it goes sometimes. Still, I'm happy as long as each of the five I put up get at least one vote each.

(But so far, so good!)

I agree wholeheartedly. I'll write one and think, "This one's a classic!" Come voting time, the crickets chirp. Then one I myself didn't particularly care for vaults up the charts. It's all about the collective gang at the time...

I don't think we're good judges of our own work on the whole. But I must confess it's disappointing when about 20 people are in a round, you think you've got a corker and it only picks up a handful of votes. Some reviews can take two stabs at a FYC to really get anywhere!

I think we all get that mild frustration. It comes down to reviews with unsophisticated ideas that jump out very obviously picking up votes more readily. Other reviews may be much more crafted but when read cold some (random) voters just don't get everything about them immediately. It doesn't usually matter, though: I find that once reviews have a few votes from here, most of the good ones rise over time.

What has poor RockGolf done to [matt] to receive such a misidentification?
