Didn't "9 to 5" become a short-lived series, with Stella Parton substituting for her big sister Dolly?
Friday Night Lights joins the club in September, and Blade debuts on Spike TV this week. |

Well, I've updated the accolade now and except for The Virginian (which apparently I'll need to add to the database here), I think I've got everything, so far.
I'll do another Google search to see if I can find more lists, later.
Thanks everyone!
(And "so there" AC - you HAVEN'T achieved this one YET!!!)

I'll take your Buck Rogers but until the Star Wars TV show is post pilot airing (i.e. at least half a season on the tube), I'm not adding that one.
I've just requested the first Buck Rogers and first Virginian films to be added to the database.

Battlestar Galactica.
Um... no, I don't think so. I'm not taking TV movies made into TV series - just movie theatre released movies that were made into TV series. I don't see where this was first a regular theater movie first.
Well that's bizarre. I saw that at the cinema, and definitely never on TV. Same with the sequel "Mission Galactica".
Now I've got a big question mark over IMDb. I.e., precisely what the (TV) means. Perhaps it just relates to the USA. In NZ both "Battlestar Galactica" and it's sequel premiered at the cinema.
Edit: If you check under Runtime, you'll see that the theatrical cut is 125 minutes.
Hm... let me think about that one, but I'm leaning towards no since there isn't anything clear cut one way or another.
Fair point. I'm guessing it was made as a TV movie and initially aired on TV in the US. And probably did well enough in the immediate post-Star Wars days that they made a feature-length cut for global cinema distribution.
It depends on what you want the accolade to be. The easy solution is to do what benj does, and just stick to the IMDb classification, so in this case it began it's life as a TV movie so it's a no-go. |

Agreed.
Oh, and I'm taking Stalag 17 out of the accolade since IMDb says that it wasn't the inspiration for Hogan's Heros, despite them both having a Sgt. Schultz and a commandant who is a bit of a bungler.

Gunsmoke Operation Petticoat The Paper Chase
And a total brain-twister, since all the film has in common with the TV version is the score and the title:
The Pink Panther
Also, "The Brady Bunch" TV series was pretty much a direct lift of the film Yours, Mine and Ours (1968) with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda, but 12 of the film's 18 kids didn't fit into to television's aspect ratio. |

Warners was the first major studio to really buy into TV. In 1955 they introduced "Warner Brothers Presents", three rotating TV series based on King's Row, Casablanca and Cheyenne, three Warners movies of the 40s. only the latter lasted past the first season and made a star out of the very wooden Clint Walker. |

The TV Gunsmoke was a spin from radio show with William Conrad as Matt Dillon. Dunno about a movie connection. |

Actually, I probably should add King's Row and Casablanca. But as for Cheyenne - I can't see any similar characters and/or stories to tie any TV series to the movie.
